Black Panther was ranked as the best movie in 2018 according to Rotten Tomatoes who gave it a 97% rating. Owned by Disney, Marvel Studios’ Black Panther cost an estimated $200 million to create (Disney). Black Panther debut was on Friday, February 16, 2018. The film grossed $200 million that opening weekend in the United States. Twenty-six days later, its worldwide release grossed an astounding $1 billion. This made it the seventh highest grossing movie in US history. Additionally, for four consecutive weekends, Black Panther held the No. 1 spot at the box office.
The story of Black Panther takes place in the technologically advanced African country called Wakanda that’s hidden from the rest of the world. Wakanda’s Prince T’Challa, the Black Panther, returns home after the tragic death of his father the King. The Prince must prove to his countrymen that he’s worthy to be king. Also, Prince T’Challa must defend his country and the rest of the world from an old foe, named Ulysses Klaue “Klaw”, that is threatening the world with technology stolen from Wakanda. The Black Panther seeks help from his little sister, Shuri, a highly-technological scientist, and his ex-girlfriend, Nakia, a Wakandan spy. Black Panther and his rallied allies fight the forces of evil.
This action-packed film is thrilling from the beginning to the end. It has awesome scenery, interesting characters, and surprising plots and twists. In conclusion, Black Panther is definitely worth watching.
